This one-day course, Dealing with Construction Contracts, is designed to provide construction professionals with a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of contract management. The program begins by exploring the fundamentals of contract formation, including what makes a contract legally binding, how to assess risk and reward in contract selection, and an overview of interpreting Irish contracts.

Participants will then delve into critical time management topics, such as understanding types of float, demonstrating claims for time extensions, and managing liquidated and ascertained damages. Payment procedures are addressed with a detailed review of the Construction Contracts Act 2013, including its workings, procedures, timeframes, and required standards for notices, as well as understanding the right to suspend work and an introduction to adjudication.

The course concludes with a focus on quality and defect management, covering the identification and notification of defects, distinguishing between patent and latent defects, understanding completion stages, and navigating liability periods effectively.

Due to the interactive nature of the sessions, these or other topics maybe covered as the sessions are intended to provide an opportunity for debate and discussion rather than the delivery of set content.
There will be collaborative sections throughout the course of the session, including interactive workshops that will develop your understanding of the abovementioned topics by applying them to problem scenarios. There will also be a Q&A portion at the end of the training.

This is a one day course delivered from 09.00hrs – 17.00hrs
