The CIF in collaboration with Industry Training Services (ITS) Confined Space 1 Day medium Risk course is designed for anyone who wants to gain the knowledge and practical skills required to safely work in low to medium risk confined spaces. Covering hazard awareness, risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, PPE, and emergency procedures, participants will develop the competence needed for safe confined space entry and receive certification upon successful completion.

- Define a confined space and identify examples in the workplace
- Explain the legal duties under the Confined Spaces Regulations 2001 & Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Identify hazards associated with confined spaces including atmospheric, physical and biological
- Understand risk assessment processes for confined space entry
- Describe the hierarchy of controls and safe systems of work
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the supervisor, entrant and attendant
- Demonstrate correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Understand permit-to-work systems and their application
- Recognise when NOT to enter and the importance of rescue pre-planning
- Definition and classification of confined spaces
- Overview of the Confined Spaces Regulations 2001
- Types of hazards: oxygen deficiency/enrichment, toxic/flammable atmospheres, engulfment, temperature extremes
- Roles and responsibilities: entrant, attendant, supervisor, emergency services
- Risk assessment and method statements
- Permit-to-work systems
- Atmospheric monitoring – principles and equipment overview
- PPE selection, fitting and pre-use checks
- Communication systems within confined spaces
- Emergency procedures and rescue pre-planning
- Practical exercises and scenario discussions
All delegates will have a multiple-choice knowledge assessment and practical observation.
On completion candidates will be receive:
- Confined Space Medium Risk Certificate of Completion
- 7 CPD Points

Non-Member Rate: €395.00
- 10 working days’ notice will incur a 50% cancellation
- 5 working days’ notice or less will incur a 100% cancellation fee. A ‘no show’ on the day also incurs a 100% cancellation fee.
- Substitute delegates are permitted on all course
- CIF charges an administration fee of €125 for delegate
- CIF reserves the right to cancel course dates in the event of insufficient
