The CIF in collaboration with Industry Training Services (ITS) one-day course combines Working at Height Awareness with Safety Harness Use & Inspection training, providing delegates with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely at height. This comprehensive one-day course combines Working at Height Awareness with Safety Harness Wearer & Inspection Training, providing delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to plan, supervise, and safely carry out work at height. The programme covers legal compliance, hazard identification, risk assessment, safe systems of work, personal fall protection equipment, and emergency preparedness.

Participants will develop a clear understanding of the risks associated with working at height and gain hands-on experience in the correct selection, fitting, use, and inspection of safety harnesses and fall protection systems.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the legal requirements relating to work at height
  • Identify hazards associated with working at height
  • Conduct and review risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Understand the hierarchy of controls for work at height activities
  • Implement safe working at height systems
  • Recognise the requirement for emergency rescue planning
  • Understand first aid considerations for work at height incidents
  • Select appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment (FPE)
  • Understand the principles of fall restraint and fall arrest systems
  • Correctly fit, adjust, and use a safety harness in accordance with manufacturer instructions
  • Carry out pre-use inspections of harnesses and associated equipment
  • Identify defective, damaged, or unsuitable equipment
  • Understand harness design, standards, testing, and maintenance requirements
  • Understand responsibilities when using or supervising personal fall protection systems

Delegates will also gain an overview of:

  • Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs)
  • Temporary working platforms
  • Fixed access systems
  • Roof work
  • Masts and tower access

  • 10 working days’ notice will incur a 50% cancellation
  • 5 working days’ notice or less will incur a 100% cancellation fee. A ‘no show’ on the day also incurs a 100% cancellation fee.
  • Substitute delegates are permitted on all course
  • CIF charges an administration fee of €125 for delegate
  • CIF reserves the right to cancel course dates in the event of insufficient
